Asset Location
Tracking Asset Location
WorthIT Fixed Assets provides the ability to track the current and historical location details for all your assets. In addition to displaying the location history of the asset, you can optionally choose to post charges associate with the location move and/or installation. You can either choose to not post, or you can capitalize or expense the move.
If you select "Depreciate using remaining asset life", the additional value will be added on to the existing depreciation (meaning the depreciation amount for each period will be higher than previously anticipated. If it remains unselected, the additional value will depreciate over the same lifetime as either the asset-specific depreciation or category depreciation settings, depending on whether the former has been set.
Storing exact location details
There are two main purposes for the location feature in WorthIT Fixed Assets:
- To track and depreciate the value accrued during move and installation.
- To track the current location of assets for reference and management.
To add the geographical location details, once you have created your location record you can click "Map" for that record in the location history list.
If you have details on this page, it will show the location on a map. To add the details, click the "Edit" button and fill in the form as per the screenshot below.
Once you've added in the address details (or longitude/latitude if you prefer), click "Search" and the application will find the location on the map.
