Asset-Specific Depreciation
Asset-Specific Depreciation
On the asset details screen, you can view the default depreciation (from the selected category) using the "Depreciation" tab. On this screen you can view the depreciation details for up to 4 books (Corporate, Tax, State, Other) as defined at the company level.
The message above the details section shows a link that say "To edit this depreciation profile, you must create asset-specific depreciation". Clicking this text will bring up a confirmation window.
Once you confirm, the options on the screen will become editable. Click the small "Edit" button in the corner of each details box in order to enter edit mode. Once you adjust the settings, and click "Save changes" at the bottom of the screen. Now the asset will depreciate using the asset-specific settings, rather than the defaults set by the category. You can do this for any of the 4 books, as long as the company is configured to track them.
The image below shows that this asset has now been configured to depreciate over 2 years instead of 3. This can be reverted using the "Undo" button above the details, but will require recalculation if any depreciation has been run against this asset.
